Ineffablefandom October Prompt 1- love at first sight

Oct 02, 2007 12:23

I’ve had that blinded by the light, can’t move, can’t speak, love at first sight thing twice in my life. Both times are undeniably connected; they cannot be un-twined. And both times have left huge boot prints on my life that I cannot wash away.

The first time was in this excruciatingly hot little shack in Asia; even now I can’t quite remember where. Maybe she had something to do with that. I was there to pick her up, actually, for terroristic activities. I probably should’ve been shot for walking in the door; I could tell from the looks that were being thrown my way. And here I’d thought that if I hadn’t worn my uniform I’d be okay. I should’ve been worried about the stares, I really should have. But, then, in the middle of this haze of spices and heat, was her. Perfect bronze skin and curvy body was wrapped in this black number was just standing there. Her hair wad down and there a knowing smirk on her face, under her heavy lidded eyes. Again, I should have been running. But, I didn’t. Cupid had definitely shot me in the ass. I was a goner. I don’t remember what we talked about. I do remember there was lots of flirting. And then we went back to her place. You get the picture. That was Jade Nguyen, Cheshire, and I supposed part of me is still tangled up.

The next time I was whacked on the head by the little flying archer was just under two years later. I had asked Dick to go with me to track down Jade after I heard she’d been planning to assassinate some diplomats. What I found after being captured by Jade (thanks) was our kid. My daughter. Dick had put her in my arms, all pink clothed, red haired beauty of her. She had been so relaxed, curled up in my arms. I was terrified-excited-overwhelmed-at perfect peace. Suddenly, being held hostage had not seemed like a big deal. Instead it the fact that my baby had the most stunning pair of brown eyes. Cupid had got me again. I gladly stay tangled up in this everyday.
