I'm pretty much having an awesome time here right now. It's crazy that an entire week has already gone by! I love the piece I'm playing. It's pretty much the most amazing thing ever. If you get a chance, download or go to the library and find the Mendelssohn Octet, and listen to it. Because that's what I'm playing.

We just performed the first movement and it was pretty much one of the best performances for myself. I wasn't nervous and even though I screwed up majorly a few times, I had fun with it. I love performing. There's so much energy and life on stage, especially with other people, there are eight of us and it is one of the most amazing feelings ever.

Lindsay, we are so making a quartet when we get home!

Ashland is fun...tonight we are seeing a play...I'm not sure which one, I'm sure it will be fantastic.

The kids that are playing in the Piano Institute arrived today...there are some kids from Japan and a girl from Sweden (though she grew up in Russia). It's so fun to be around all the same kind of people all at once. Like here, everyone has a passion for music whether it's classical or not.

OMG! On Thursday we had a master class with Lynn Harrell, who is pretty much the greatest living cellist in the world! It was so AMAZING. And on Friday we saw him perform live at the Britt hill, and I almost cried during his performance, it was the best concert I have ever been to. By the time he got to the third movement of Saint-Saens Concerto No. 1 I thought I might die because it would be over. I have never heard someone play a cello like he did. And during intermission, we kind of ran into him, and he made a point of shaking everyone's hand. He told that when he was in Aspen years ago, he met a man and immediately shook his had, not knowing who it was. Then he realized it was Jasca Heifitz! So he said, "I make a point of shaking hands with everybody, because maybe one day you will look back and remember this."

It was so beyond inspiring. Guh.

I need to go practice now. Most def.
