First Day of Welcome Week
Off to meet the rest of the gang. This years class has this feeling of awe... like "I can't believe I'm here". Perhaps it's because school is a totally new experience, and perhaps it's because we're all thinking, 4500 applicants for 120-150 spots, I can't believe I got in!
Yesterday's financial aid workshop was a joke and I had to correct the director of financial aid. A student asked about getting an increase in her financial aid, she said that she couldn't live on the amount she was allowed. He told her that there was nothing that could be done about how much money she received in financial aid(grants AND loans are all included in this 'financial aid' award) , that it had already been increased to cover the new fee increase and he "didn't see the problem", he wasn't listening. I said "Isn't it the case that the amount we can borrow can be increased for health care expenses, computer and transportation expenses and educational related expenses?" He paused "um... yes. You have to request that from our office.... but it is possible". DUH!!!!
So I'm done reading the chapter. Off to get breakfast...
Strangely, I have two closets full of clothes and I can't find anything to wear.
I'm sure that I will.
