Last night.

Well, we found out that my father has congested heart failure. He's actually in surgery right now.
He's doing pretty good (or last time I saw him)and the doctor was actually looking forward to the surgery (thinking it was going to be cool). So that's a good sign.
He should be getting out thursday, depending on how things go. But the doctor says that no matter what, he's coming home for Easter.

Last night...oh last night.
I went shopping Sunday with my mom, sister, and her boyfriend, while checking up on my dad periodically. We ended the day at about 5ish and after going to the store to get supplies for my dad, and flowers for friends who let us stay at their house, we got our stuff from their house and drove once more to the hospital to drop off the supplies for my dad and to say one last final goodbye.
We started on the highway at about 6:30ish and stopped at that gas station right outside spokane. Filled up, and called home so Rita knew we were on our way.
We drove for about 20 minutes and when going up a slight hill, the engine started to act up. It made a *clankclankclank* noise and I started loosing momentum. My mom said, "turn around! This doesn't sound good". I said, "Where would you like me to turn around, Mother?! This is a one way street!". So I ended up just having enough speed to get us over to a cross road called Paradise Road (...right). At that instant, the van died and smoke exited the hood.
And there we were.
Earlier that day I had actually checked the oil because it was making some not-so-good but not-so-loud noises. It was very low, so I filled it up.
Now, dead on the side of the highway, I checked it again and it was as dangerously low as the first time. I looked on the right side of the van, and oil was spewing out from under the car.
:::sigh:::
So I called Rita (because I didn't have our friends number), and told her to call them to pick us up. Oh, by the way, did I mention my cell phone was dying?
She called them, and I called dad. Dad told me to call Tom, a friend in clarkston who could come pick us up and take us home. Called him, no one home.
Our friends in spokane, called me and said they were calling a tow truck, and coming to get us. Unfortunately the guy getting us wasn't told all the directions to where we were so he thought we were closer to the gas station then we were, and was going back and fourth for almost half an hour thinking he just wasn't seeing us. He tried calling me, I picked up, "hello?" (didn't recognize the number), "Carol? this is Scott", "oh, hi scott", "ok, so *click*"
my phone died.
and just like in the movies I screamed "NOOOOOOO!!!" and later found out he did exactly the same.
He finally found us after going farther down the highway, and we sat there until conformation that the tow truck was coming.
It was, and he had us take his car back to the house. At this point, Rita was talking to dad and found out that Tom was unavailable so she called the McCabes and they were on their way.
So I'm driving their car to their house in Spokane and what do you know, the gas light went on. We were going on empty. I wanted to scream.
Luckily we were able to make it to the gas station right at the division exit.
We got to their house, had some food, the tow truck guy came, dropped off the van, the McCabes came and took us home. We got into Clarkston at 12am.

The end.
