Why change your last name?
Something I never understood was why women continue to change their last name when they get married in this day and age?
Are we still longing for that feeling of belonging?
Do we really need to change our entire identity that existed pre marriage in order to take on this new role?
Whatever happened to reclaiming marriage?
Whatever happened to defining your own traditions?
I am just saying...what's in a name anyways?
They all represent patriarchal lineages anyways.
Well except maybe my name...which was randomly given to me and represents absolutely nothing. My last name is actually a first name for females which means "Sugar" in persian. No we are not persian.
My mother is just random, for which I am so grateful.
My last name isn't from my father, or his father, or his father.
There is no one in the world with the same name as me!
Now...that's worth keeping!
