SOOO....
I'm a geek and a definite Lost psycho fan. I'm almost as bad with Lost as I was with The X-Files. Sometimes I wonder if I'm worse with Lost b/c of all the media that I can get my hands on now that the internet is so common etc. BUT... I was thinking of a theory today and I'm going to share it with those who are fans of the show. If you don't care about it, then I'll just keep it in the LJ cut...
SO
My theory is that there was a widespread virus that escaped out of some part of Africa around 2004/2005. These "survivors" were handpicked by the government or world leaders or something to be the test group or the new world race. They forced the plane to crash on a remote island out of the way of any part of the virus. The world did not know about this virus and none of the survivors did either. This would make sense with the very racially diverse cast. (Middle Eastern, American, Australian, Nigerian, British, Spanish... this represents all 7 continents [polar bears represents the Arctic regions]) The "new world" must consist of "good" and "bad" people. The Others are the "good" people and the survivors (those that are not taken) are the "bad" people. This creates what a world should be. Almost like a survival of the fittest and the best cross section of the world.
The timeline is what gets to me. I think that this virus is actually something that happens in the future. The plane crash happens at the time the virus escapes but the island is created AFTER the virus has wiped out many of humans. They create this island to take people from the past to the new world in this "safe zone." The reason the virus did not reach this island is because of the nuclear reactor on the island (causing the magnetic problems and the messing with people's minds etc.)
There are still so many holes that need to be filled in with this theory, but I really think that this might work out in the long run. hm... what do you think????
