Saw the Anarchist Society of Shakespeareans' production of Measure for Measure at the Democracy Center near Harvard Square on Friday night -
Good show, updated with more modern clothing etc. Very well done, its a longish play, which made me wish for one or two cuts in the material - but well acted and entertaining. The material was funny and presented in a fresh way.
I wasn't so much jazzed about the fact it was Shakespeare but about the people producing it and how very fresh the material seemed. So if you're not a huge Shakespeare fan, don't let that turn you off...you may find you appreciate his work more in this context.
If you get a chance, go see it. It's free with a $5 suggested donation, so you can decide what the performance was worth afterward if you like. Its a fun show.
Remaining performances are: February 17, & 18 at 8pm, and February 12 at 3pm at the Democracy Center near Harvard Square, 45 Mount Auburn Street, Cambridge, MA.
