I sat through a mandatory lecture titled -- get this -- "Terrorism: What to Do".
What the fuck?
I guess an argument could be made that fewer people would've died in the 9/11 attacks if plans like these had been in place, but I bet half the people wouldn't have left their desks anyway. Ever tried to get a studying college student out of its favorite cubbyhole? Some them just refuse to move. Most of them poke along and hope you'll go away, so that they can crawl back under their rocks of choice.
I suggested the purchase of taser rods. Then we could herd them out like cattle!
My boss' boss actually laughed. Maybe she's human after all.
My immediate boss just kind of shook her head and rolled her eyes. Easy for her to think I'm overreacting! *She's* not the one herding recalcitrant library patrons.
Thank God it was only an hour long. I don't think I could've lasted much longer, as I was very close to expiring from boredom -- jokes about cattle prods notwithstanding.
