Don't you have the same drug coverage I have? Because I've been on Wellbutrin for years and they've never hassled me (they moved me to Bupropion, the generic, when it became available).
Did you tell them you have a coworker who is on Wellbutrin? If you did/do, I'd be curious to know their response. I think different plans can have different specs, but I don't know if the specs can change in one plan.
I'd take this to HR if I were you--you can't fuck around with psychiatric drugs. You might need more than one med, and Wellbutrin might do a good job in combination with the other two. And BTW, I had a side effect with Zoloft that I have never had with Wellbutrin, that's proof right there that drugs can work differently in a person even if they are chemically very similar.
BTW, is your doc who prescribed this a GP or a psychiatrist? I don't know if that might make a difference to the company? I can imagine them being stingier with scrips written by GPs.
I talked to my doc ( GP ) this morning and she is working on the insurance company, so hopefully this will all be resolved sometime today. If that fails, then I think I will take your suggestion and see if HR can do anything about it.

Maybe you've been on it long enough that you were grandfathered, or something like that. *tries to see through red haze of rage*
