Three-day Memorial Day weekend roundup.

I was a SLUG. A SLUG, I TELL YOU.

It was awesome... I practically hibernated all weekend after stopping on Friday night to get groceries and stock up on horror movies. I tried to do a werewolf weekend, but there weren't enough that looked interesting.

So I got:

Skinwalkers for Jason Behr. Very yummy to look at, though his acting certainly hasn't improved since Roswell. He remains wooden at best, but man . . . dude's been working out. NICE ARMS.

Blood and Chocolate, which looked like a different take on the classic werewolf / human star-crossed love story. Um, it wasn't really. Different, that is. Though the special effects were quite nice, and one thing I really liked was how, even in their human forms, the loup-garous retained some wolfishness, in behavior and movement.

House of the Dead, which I've been meaning to rent since I caught it one Saturday night on cable, all chopped up and making even less sense than it did yesterday. Though, learning that it was based on a video game actually explains a lot. Also, I think I can safely say that Ona Grauer had some work done between that movie and appearing as the Crossroads Demon in Season 2 of Supernatural. Eyes don't change that drastically in four years without some form of surgical assistance.

Thr3e. A fairly run-of-the-mill suspense thriller with a hero / villain suffering from multiple personality disorder. At least they didn't try to call it "split personality", and there was enough to it to make me think that hey! someone actually did some research for this one. Not too far off, though, from James Van Der Beek's performance in Criminal Minds. Oh, Marc Blucas, you will always remain Riley in my heart. And, clearly, in your performances. Nice try at breaking the sterotype, though.

And finally, The Messengers: a classic ghost story with a surprise twist . . . at least, I was surprised. A great deal of the now-familiar special effects in the Japanese style, clearly influenced by The Ring or The Grudge, both of which are movies that kept me up all night after watching. *shudder*

In addition to movies, there were mass quantities of pizza consumed, a Sunday barbecue attended, and fic written, which I shall post later, after making sure it doesn't suck too badly.

And how was your weekend?

movies, weekend, holidays, oh riley, tv boyfriends
