So, I've been back home this weekend because it was my Nan's birthday. We went out for a meal, which was fun. Girl cousin is looking a lot healthier than she has done previously.
Other than that, I went to the British National Fencing Championships. It's a lot less grand than it sounds because it's open entry, not restricted.
My usual luck struck in the pools, I ended up with 4 left handers in a pool of 7. Or as T put it, some people always get stuck with bad refs, [real name redacted] always gets stuck with left handers. One of them was the British female foilist who went to the Beijing Olympics.
I had the four left handers first, two of them were actually good, while the other two just happened to be left handed. I like the ref I got and couldn't really complain about any of his decisions, I just disagree about when someone counts as past someone else.
I got the left hander that went to the Olympics last out of them. I got one hit on her (which makes me so very happy) and if only I had better point control it would have been two.
One of the other right handers beat me, but she tends to do that, and I finally beat the other right hander after 4 years of trying.
All this means I came 53rd. The cut was from 52 downwards. Damn it! Actually, I can't complain too much, I did better than last year and managed to get a win this time. I shall simply have to do better next year.
Even more fun was that B and K were down, so I got to spend time with them. There was beer, burgers and chat, what could be better. Although B's sense of direction has not improved, at all!
T and a different B were also v. happy to see them. We should meet up more often.

Just saw the German GP, I still hate the new Hockenheim, and I don't think we'll hear the end of the whole 'Massa had to step aside for Alonso' thing for quite some time. I think Ferrari's line will be that they didn't break the letter of the law. I'd also be very surprised if Rob Smedley is still there after the end of this season, which will probably mean Felipe is out of the door as well.

The TV meme, day 2 - A show that you wish more people were watching
Being Human -
http://www.bbc.co.uk/beinghuman/ In which a vampire, a ghost and a werewolf share a house. And oh they're such interesting characters. I mean, I still prefer pilot!Mitchell, but it does such interesting things with the premise and George is an absolute love and Annie, oh Annie! The people in it are lovely and horrid and wonderful and terrible and I love it so very much. Toby Whitehouse writes some excellent stuff, and it's a joy to watch. They also managed to make Terry Wogan creepy, in one of the most genius things I've seen in ages.
