Professional Opinion Needed

Playing Bejewelled Blitz in my free time is great and everything, but I sometimes wonder if I should maybe do something more constructive with my time. And so I pose a question to my friends with technical backgrounds and careers (but anyone and everyone can answer).

Should I spend some time either

1) enhancing my existing skill set and learning more about Java, VB6, C#, SQL Server, etc.?

2) add to my skill set by learning something new like Oracle, VB.NET, the .NET framework, game programming, research into the autonomous robot revolution, etc.?

3) do neither of these things and continue playing games like Bejewelled Blitz, Towers Solitaire, etc.?

Also, I imagine it does matter, but I'd just like some reassurance. Would the things I learn myself help at all in interviews? It's great saying "I learned all these things on my own", but without any proof from a past employer would hiring companies care?

Thanks for any insight you can give.
