I think I should clarify my feelings about Northen Ireland.
I love (really feel loyal to) my country, but there are so many aspects of it that I hate that I sometimes come across as hating the place itself.
Northern Irelands quite a decent place to live, as long as you watch what you say, and where you say it.
Crime here, barring the odd bomb scare, and minor riot, is low.
I don't know of ANY crimes committed in my tiny little village (pop about 300) in the past few years. And before that...all I can think of is someone getting caught with weed, and three bombings. And those were all a long long time ago.
I do feel safe here, because crime is so low, and because I do know the rules, and how to watch what I'm saying.
Obviously I hate a lot of things, the violent undercurrent to everyday life, tha fact that I have to watch what I say, the farce of a political system and the biased police (though they are better than they were) to name but a few.
Northen Ireland is quite a peaceful place, especially for tourists, and quite a beautiful place. If this kind of barren windswept landscape is you thing.
