What kind of light is that? (Or: you have inadequate lighting for your turtles!!!!!!!!)

That's the ZooMed PowerSun full spectrum UVA/UVB and heat lamp. Believe me, it's adequate. This is one of those mercury vapor bulbs, and it is awesome.

I keep my turtles pretty well fed, so they aren't really hungry for goldfish, but they will still eat them. I encourage you to try, the current fish in my tank have been around for more than 3 months.

Wow, it's so pretty and what a lot of room for them! I have LOTS of questions...

what's the stuff on the shelf that looks like towels? is it to give them someplace soft till you put moss or whatever up there?

where do you get a tank this big? did you have it custom made? do you know how heavy it is? do you have it on the floor because it's too heavy for a table, or could you put it on something if it was strong enough?

is it glass or plastic? does that matter?

Yes, those are towels on the shelf. My vet is out of town and I want to confer with her before I do anything, so towels seemed like a good option. It's really funny when they are basking up there and then they have their head tucked under a towel ( ... )
