Conifur 2K4 Recap

Sep 26, 2004 17:25

I came home early from Conifur. I got home last night (Saturday) at around 11:30pm. I got sick while I was out there in Seattle and felt so shitty on Saturday, that I decided to come home that night. So my trip got cut short.

Highlights of the Con:

Seeing Alis and Jirris!

Alis has been my partner in crime at cons for a while now and I always enjoy hanging out with him. Loads of fun at the table on Friday!
I met Jirris exactly a year ago at Conifur. I remember Chad coming to my table with this tall lanky guy and introducing us. I am still greatful to Chad for doing so. Jirris is an awesome person to hang out with. I enjoyed listening to his stories of his campaign and also enjoyed just hanging out with him. Definitely one of my v.i.p. people in the fandom.

Seeing J.L Anderson again!

I met her two years ago at Conifur and to this day, I am still amazed by her artwork! She is also one of the most friendliest people I have met in fandom. I love the badge and the prints! Thanks for being a cool person!

Having people tell me they appreciate my art!

When the dealer's den opened at 10pm, I was finishing setting up. Within minutes after, I had six con badge commissions lined up. Having people say they like my art is very flattering because I don't think it is as good as other people's artwork out there.

One fur whom I made a badge for last year returned to get another badge. He surprised me the most because on Saturday he came back and wanted me to make a commissioned sketch to have made into a button. He told me out of all the artists in the den, he liked my art the best. o,O XD I could have fallen out of my chair! Unfortunately, I was too sick to be able to accept the commission. KEL, I appreciate the compliments ...Thank you.

Meeting Wookiee

I have been waiting and wanting to meet Wookiee in person since I got into the fandom. The bad thing is that he usually sells at the East Coast cons. When I found out he was coming to Conifur, I knew I had to meet him. Meeting him in person was the greatest moment. Seriously. Wookiee is a very talented, well known artist yet he doesn't let it get to his head. He is a very humble and approachable person.

He already had a lot of sketchbooks to do draw in. When I thought I would be requesting a commission from him, he requested to do an Art Trade. Way cool! Despite having a lot on his plate, he finished my book knowing I was leaving town that night. I dropped his book off with my sketch to him and got ready to pay for his new story and he just gave it to me. He gave me a hug and wished me well.

I am still in awe on how wonderful a person he is.

Witnessing Chad be GOH

I am truly happy for him. Chad and his boyfriend are two of the most nicest, most wonderful people one could meet. Chad is the first person I met at Conifur two years ago. I have never forgotten his kindness.

Bummers of the Con:

Not seeing Porc, Brigus or Windmist. I hope to see you guys at FC.

Not getting a chance to talk to Matrices. She had lots of people around her all the time and was very busy during the con. I felt like a dork just hanging around. =P

Getting sick and leaving early. It sucks to be sick.. It really sucks when you're 1500 miles from home. I missed the art show, the masquerade and the art jams. Poop.

Misc Moment of the Con:

Meeting and talking to Sibe. I have always heard stories of him but never had seen him before. He was friendly to me. I have nothing good, nor bad to say of him. Unless he does something to personally hurt me, my opinion of him is neutral.
