EMPHYSEMA- is a condition in which the walls between the alveoli or air sacs within the lung lose their ability to stretch and recoil. The air sacs become weakened and break. Elasticity of the lung tissue is lost, causing air to be trapped in the air sacs and impairing the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. Also, the support of the airways is lost, allowing for airflow obstruction.
I'll be posting about my adventure in quitting smoking and information on this disease. For a while I will admit it will be a lot of whining complaining and poor me; HOWEVER I will face this with grace and intelligence. I take full responsibility for getting this disease; no one put a gun to my head and said you must smoke...
I have gone 1 day with out a cigarette, so I get one heart sticker on my calendar!! YEA ME!!
