I really like this. I don't exactly ship this pairing but it's interesting to explore. I'm also pleased to read a characterisation of Todhunter which is similar to my own. I always liked the idea of him genuinely being as nice as he seems in "The End". :)
I realised recently that he actually calls Lister Dave in that ep too when they're heading for stasis: "Look, Dave, nobody wants to go through with this". So a slashy interpretation is pretty easy, really.
I'm not sure why I enjoy this pairing so much. Maybe it's just that I think they look cute together? Or it's something about the straight-laced sort of goodie-goodie overachiever being drawn to scrappy little slobby Lister. In some ways I see the pairing as a bit similar to the Lister/Rimmer pairing, in the "opposites attract" sense, but without all the heavy emotional stuff that I see Lister and Rimmer going through together. I can see Lister/Todhunter having some fun together, but I would never see it as being more than a fling.
Clearly I think too much. ;-)
I was rolling at Captain Hollister finding himself susceptible to the Lister Effect as well, and poor Lister's reaction to the whole situation. So perfectly in character. :)

And of course everybody loves Lister. ;)
