^^ all I can say is "Love!" and "More!" (I'll try to be more coherent when I'm not ill.)

Oh, now this is the excellent madlovescience-quality I've come to expect! The mood comes across perfectly, and you've solved the Io issue excellently. You've understood exactly what I meant, which is impressive, because half the time I had no idea how to phrase myself. I did feel terrible about being so critical. :/ I hope you found it useful rather than annoying!

Actually, seeing it now, I get a much better idea of Lister's mood, and I think the problem was that we were seeing things a little TOO much from his POV. That's what was coloring it pink, so to speak. I think your original draft is how Lister would have written the story. ;)

“Maybe I’m not perfect, yeah, but I could make you happy if you let me try. I’ve…” Lister searched his mind for an appealing word. “matured.”
This is still my favorite line. It's just so telling; explaining so much in such a short space.

The hologram was better at playing hard to get than the prettiest girl he’d ever dated, and with no experience behind him. How was that possible?Seducing Rimmer should seriously ( ... )

I didn't really change the Io thing except to expand on it and explain it a bit. It's funny how some forms of conservative thought begin with religion but end up not being about it at all by the time the mores of a society or culture develop. I honestly see it being more about what is "proper" and "normal" to those on Io than about churchgoing- The Rimmers especially strike me as the sort of family that would like everyone else to think they were richer, happier, and more well connected than they really are. Most upper class people don't make point of flaunting it.

I really hope that rant sort of made sense.

Anyway, thanks again for all of your help- Lister was curled up in his bunk moping, so to speak. Rimmer sure isn't an easy lay lol

I didn't mean to imply that you'd changed it; just that it made sense within the confines of the story now. So good! Rimmer's family strikes me as middle class, in British Terms. I think he's a walking middle-class stereotype, actually. Which is funny, because so is Chris. ;)

I'm glad I could help. And I hope Lister will get better!

lol yes, that's exactly what I meant! Middle class, but always trying to keep up appearances, if you know what I mean. ahhh, yes. Chris. Let's enjoy that thought for awhile.

Lister will be okay because he bounces. It's everyone else that I worry about.
