I've discovered, after sorta-reading through a bit of Sherlock fandom, that I'm insanely picky about my Sherlock/John (BBC)
John/Rodney (SGA) is great...it's like this little black dress. I've read them in so many ways, with so many kinks, and in so many roles, I can hardly think of any one scenario or kink or anything that would make me think 'this is not them' in any meaningful way. If done right, I can see them in almost any manifestation. (general caveats apply for preference, quality, etc)
For Sherlock/John (bbc), I'm very narrow in what I'll enjoy reading. I find I can't at all enjoy dom!John, though dom!Sherlock suits me just fine. I lean heavily toward something clearly dysfunctional, especially if the story includes sex. Not as in sexual dysfunction, but more in their relationship being clearly dysfunctional.
I greatly enjoy fantasy AU types. Angels and werewolves and the like all seem to fit with them quite nicely.
I also enjoy when their relationship is an asexual and romantic one. Though, when I read it, if John's not at least somewhat aware of what it means to be asexual, I sorta O.o at it. He's a doctor. I know some doctors are woefully ignorant about sexuality and gender issues, but he should be at least peripherally aware of it.
So, I like the ship a lot, but there's like a very finite number of scenarios I can enjoyably read of them. le sigh.
I should get back to writing the stuff I'm writing. I'm writing a Jack/Ianto which is the very definition of self-indulgence. It's like one day, I suddenly realized Jack's two parts Jareth the Goblin King and Ianto's two parts Sarah, if she'd have let Jareth hit that.
*snorts*
It's so much fun. It's going to be one of those ridiculous things where there's like a paragraph of "contains" because of the scenario I set up by altering a choice in canon in two separate places and diverging from there. There will possibly be a plot in between the sex scenes.
I also sorta just want a fic in which Danny's Steve's sex slave or something. I dunno. Or Something in which Steve just owns Danny like he so clearly wants to. And Danny doesn't mind as long as he gets to bitch.
