Things I wish TV would erase or at least forget about for a season or three.
Three Tired TV tropes I'm tired of seeing:
1. Poor, beleaguered father of a young child who has no/vague/few parental rights, with a mean, nasty ex who just wants to stick it to him and prevent poor, beleaguered father from being a good daddy.
Reality: Dad who either doesn't pay child support or fight very hard for their rights.
True, some dads may face this, but I guess it's not good tv if the handsome, white lead detective/cop guy in your show is a deadbeat dad, with five years overdue child support payments.
2. Lead cop/detective/fbi agent/etc lady always gets her own personal stalker/serial killer after her.
Why? Just...why?
3. Regarding female leads: domestic or sexual violence against them.
Why? I can scarcely recall a lead male character being domestically or sexually assaulted in an episode. But every lady with a gun gets to deal with it. In almost every show. Ever.
