this is an odd thing to be posting about in the middle of the night, when i'm a bit buzzed. but i just got home and found out that my favourite candidate won the liberal leadership convention(in canada). this means, if the liberals win a majority in the next election(likely in the spring).. he will be prime minister.
i'm *so* pumped about this. first, because i think he's a great guy, smart and with a good vision for canada, and second because i *really* objected to the guy everyone thought would win. the second place guy: he's not a politician, he's a writer and a teacher and he's been living outside of canada for most of his life. he just swoops back in cause he thinks it would look good on his resume to be prime minister of canada, and there was a power gap so he thought he could slip in there without doing the time. bah! serves him right :) i really had no faith that other canadians would see it that way. this is awesome!
on a more normal note... i had a really good time this afternoon on the boston hiking club pub crawl in cambridge/somerville. talked to many interesting people, drank some good beer, possibly made some new friends... and might even get a date or two out of it. not bad for a day's work :)
AND since i didn't mention it yesterday, i played really well in our practice hockey game on friday night... our grumpy coach even made a point of telling me, twice! that i did a good job. i also fell on my face and managed to cut myself. heh. i can pretend i got in a fight ;) feeling like part of a group there, too. hooray!
