Jane and her family didnt really get along. Her father had died when she was 7 and ever since then she had always felt dis attached from her mother. She never really felt close enough to call her mother "mom" or even really mother, she always simply called her Mary.
Her brother was what she considered a little brat. He would always snoop around her room, and ask her annoying questions such as " are u going out with Aaron? and if not why do you always hang out with him." He would also ask stuff like what was she doing in the woods all the time, and was she a virgin or not. Although he often annoyed her, she really didnt hate him. Actually he was one of the closest people to her. They used to spend a lot of time together exploring the near by woods and farms, but they slowly grew apart as they grew older. Even though they didnt spend as much time together, they still had an silent bond, and understanding that they would never truly betray each other.
Jane and her mother Mary's relationship was never really the same after Jane's father died.
He died of cancer, and the caring for him and watching him wither away took a lot out of Mary. After his death Mary withdrew herself from life and never really tried to get close to her children, and Jane never really tried to get close to Mary.
Although Jane's mother seemed like the perfect mother; going to work, taking care of her kids, having the occasional dinner party at her house, she was actually empty inside. Just an empty void of grief and fear.
