So my kid's great-grandmother (not my side of the family) sent her a precious moments angel stuffed doll for easter. The damn thing recites the lord's prayer in a little kid's voice, which, as you might guess, is pretty creepy. Maya took one look at it while it prayed and started bawling. I think I'm going to set the thing on fire.
Did any of you grow up celebrating non-religious holidays? My brother and I were brought up by two staunch agnostic/atheists but we ended up celebrating Christian holidays by virtue of the fact that we got days off from school and work. I'd rather try to avoid doing that with Maya. She's going to get the Christian indoctrination from Jeremy's family and I'd like we present her with something that isn't just Christian culture by default for our immediate family. Hmm. Ideas? What and how do you celebrate with your peeps?
