Holy global takeover, Batman!

I've only read a couple of articles from the Seattle Times, for the first time ever today, but I love it already.

Report: Iraq didn't pose immediate threat to U.S.
My favorite paragraph runs:
"In doing that review, it becomes clear that many things we thought were working, like our intelligence assessment process, were not, and things that we thought were not working, like the U.N. inspection process, actually were."

Anthrax-vaccine ban ends
Sullivan said in his original order that he was convinced by the plaintiffs that the vaccine was experimental and being "used for an unapproved purpose" - that is, for exposure to airborne anthrax as well as exposure through the skin.

Mexican travelers angry over air-security efforts
-Other nations have been irked by the U.S. introduction of fingerprint scanning and photographing for visitors from all but 27 mostly European nations. Last week, Brazil began fingerprinting and photographing arriving Americans in retaliation. On Tuesday, the Brazilian foreign minister asked the U.S. to exempt Brazilians.
-Some European nations also have balked at the new aviation-security measures, which include armed guards on aircraft as well as the preflight scrutiny. Even though France and Germany agreed to the U.S. request, civil-aviation authorities in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Portugal all said they would not allow armed marshals to fly and would instead cancel flights if there was a strong suspicion of a planned attack.

And then the not so enjoyably entertaining snippets:

Well, I couldn't find the article on the web. But, it's something called Terrorism Digest, and the title is "White house to rush case to high court".

WASHINGTON -- The Bush administration said yesterday it plans to rush an appeal in the case of a US-born terrorism suspect so that the Supreme Court can decide by summer whether the goverment may hold US citizens indefinitely and without charges.

And under a sub-heading "British authorities given new power for emergencies" - The Civil Contingencies Bill will give police the power to evacuate dangerous areas, impose no-go zones, destroy private property without compensation and ban peaceful protests.

Holy cow.
