Honestly--Honesty isn't usually my policy when it comes to things like this, but--

I suppose...it was to stick to your beliefs. Stay loyal, you know? To your goals. And ditch the dreams, because they're worthless. But goals...you have to stay true to those.

Well, there can be a fine between goals and dreams sometimes, but I get what you mean. Yeah, I can definitely agree with that.

[He spent a few years of his life dedicating himself to his goal, after all.]

Though how you achieve those goals can change.

Well of course! You have to be adaptable if you're going to reach those goals.

Well, being the best isn't really what I'm after. That kind of thing can kind of be a pain in the ass, you know?

Don't be silly. That's all we're ever striving for. Maybe just to be the best so you can protect people. Maybe to be the best so you can serve your lord the best.

Maybe it's just to be the best you personally can be.

Either way, it's all the same.
