Accidental Video 002 // A Type of Good-bye

Sep 09, 2010 15:07

[It's a surprisingly melancholic look on his face when he can be seen, pacing on what seems to be a rooftop somewhere.

He finally sits beside the SFC with a sigh, shaking his head.]

Looks like the theory wasn't entirely right. He's still gone.

[A pause, and he notices the red light. With an annoyed look, he reaches over, and--

Click!]

!ic, not that he cares really, !accidental video, sob sob angst, what are friends?, bad at this technology thing, people always leave, sad spy is sad, dang it eyes, this is why attachments suck

BREAKING MY HIATUS FOR YOU, FFFFFFFFFFFFF sweeperesque September 9 2010, 23:47:11 UTC
[... no, she doesn't really know what he's talking about. But she can tell that it's probably something pretty important. Give her some time to research and figure it out. ... but while she does that-]

Penny for your thoughts?

[A tight, annoyed frown. He hates technology.]

It isn't important. Except that apparently death can be more permanent here than we thought.

[And she seems honestly surprised. What, did he think that it was a guaranteed thing? Then again, she's probably thought longer about the effects of death than him.]

Well... yeah. I guess. But we shouldn't have relied on that idea anyway.

[A pause. Information's all well and good, but she's more concerned for Matthew's well-being here.] So... someone didn't come back, huh? You knew him?

[He shakes his head. It wasn't a reliance thing, it was--

What was it?]

Good guess.

[He doesn't particularly want to talk about it. This is why...connections are bad.]

It doesn't matter now, though.

[A roll of her eyes. Stupid Matthew. DOES SHE HAVE TO BEAT THIS TALK OUT OF YOU?]

Of course it matters. People who get left behind typically have more to say than the people who leave.

[A terse laugh and a mutter:]

Don't I know it.

[And then he sighs and shrugs.]

He's dead, and he didn't come back. Shame; he owed me.

[... the temptation to inquire about that first bit is nagging at her, but she doesn't think she has the ability to tackle two of Matthew's problems at once.]

Wouldn't be surprised if everyone in Vatheon owed you a little at this rate.

But... well, I guess we got lucky. Life is precious, I hope he enjoyed it. If not... I'm sad he didn't get more time. [a pause] But... you know, no need to act tough for anyone, Matthew. If it's eating away at you, say it.

[And his response to that? He forces a smile.]

Nothing is eating away at me, Saya. It's just a shame that he won't be around for me to call in that favor he owes me.

[And she frowns. She doesn't think Matthew is cold-hearted enough to actually be smiling when someone's gone and died.]

Sure. Okay.

[And she huffs.]

Pretending again. Well, I won't lecture you despite my wounded pride. Just don't keep it all to yourself and vent somehow, 'kay?

[Fff. He shrugs. He doesn't do venting, especially to other people.]

Whatever you say. But you'll have to be careful not to die again, if death isn't entirely impermanent here.

[...don't die on him. He has too few friends as it is.]

[... this conversation is setting off warning bells in her head. If he starts getting attached like Ragna, she'll have no choice but to cut off ties, even if it's Matthew and she considers him a friend.

So she'll have to simply try to... ensure that such a thing doesn't happen.]

Because you want to cash in on that favor I owe you too, right?

redcloakedthief September 10 2010, 23:03:56 UTC
Of course. Why else? It'll be annoying if I can't make use of the people who owe me, right?

Well, glad to see we're on the same page.

I suppose I'll do what I can though. I'd hate to leave you hanging.

It's a deal then. After all, I still need to think up a good use for that favor.

Try not to ask for too much, 'kay? One favor. One. I hate following directions, after all.

I'm entirely aware of what you owe.

[He does this a lot, don't you get that sense?]
