I'm getting four-five hours of sleep before a work night Yeah, 4-5 hours a night during the week is pretty much my default, which I want to change. It's not supposed to be good for you.
I also highly doubt your allergic to it. It's a very safe herb. Good to know! I once had a very bad reaction to a (pysch) med I had never taken before and ever since then I've been terrified of taking new things. Which is probably a bit silly, but a hard habit to break.
And talking to your doctor about your sleeping issues, no matter how weird they may be, is never a bad thing. The worst they could say is what you already know. Funnily enough, I was at my GP for a completely unrelated problem, and then she conned me into a regular check up since I hadn't seen her in a while (surprise flu shot! surprise blood tests!). I told her about my sleeping issues and although she gave me advice on good sleep hygiene, she also gave me a medication to try that they usually prescribe to people with shift work sleep problems. So I'll see how that goes. I want to mention it to my psychiatrist before I start taking it though, since it apparently works on brain chemicals. If it works, then maybe I can use it for a short while to help establish good patterns!
Oh, and mindfulness is a fucking hard thing to do. Totally. I bought an interesting book with techniques; I just need to figure out how to do it without making myself crazier!
