Recuva was actually one of the ones I had downloaded and tried out! I was very impressed with it, actually. Unfortunately, the bookmark files were all overwritten. :P Not a huge surprise, but still sad. I apparently did have the foresight to save a bookmarks file last time I did a full backup (in....2010), so only 2 years lost instead of 5? Which is better than nothing!
So...Miracle Day.... Awesome or awesome? ;) GWEN. GWENNNNN. LEAVE YOUR HUSBAND AND MARRY ME INSTEAD!!! I'm sorry, what was the question? ;)
(they are human in a ton of other aspects and...well, there's math involved) I would totally read TimeLord based math. I bet it would be amazing.
I can see the asexuality and where people are coming from I totally see it too, it's just one of those bits of fandom where it annoys me when people need to show that they're right and you're wrong, and it annoys me when it shows up inelegantly in fanfic (often in that same "I'm right/You're wrong!" context), I feel like it should be one of those instances where everyone's opinion is valid. It's like when people say he's "obviously" gay or "obviously" straight. I kind of actually like that canon is kind of purposely vague on that count, because it leaves it open to everyone's interpretation. Of course, (I don't think it will stay that way for long, because it seems that Moffatt is really into writing an EPIC FATED LOVE STORY, and apparently River's favorite thing to do is make blatantly sexual comments to the Doctor, but I'm just going to ignore that for now!)
Oh my goodness, is that a fic rec for one of mine? Why, is there someone else posting fic at your fic journal, which I mentioned by name? ;)
Yeah, backups are wicked important. I even have a spare external HD to manage most of my backups but it seems to be too small. :(
GWEN. GWENNNNN. LEAVE YOUR HUSBAND AND MARRY ME INSTEAD!!! I'm sorry, what was the question? ;)
LOL! Isn't the whole cheating on her bf an excuse Gwen bashers use to "justify" their bashiness? Sorry, I just found that amusing. ;)
Re Time Lord math and sexuality: It came to me more as an idea about the percentage each year of our life is as we grow older and, for a Time Lord that's 900 years and getting older, each "year" (or even hour) would be very, very small. Then I'd relate the percentages to how often humans think/have sex to how often a Time Lord might. I'm guessing that, all things considering, they'd be the same.
However, I'm completely with you on EPIC FATED LOVE STORY deal. I love Ten/Rose to pieces and although I think they're as good a fit as either of them were going to accomplish, I'm not always set on the EPIC FATED LOVE STORY thing. I also doubt that RTD and Gardner went that way. Sure, they set it up like a real sort of love story would go, one that had its ups and downs, its troubles, its dilemmas, and its drama (angst ftw!), but it never felt forced. River/Doctor on the other hand has been set-up for a few series now and it's just...ugh. No, just bloody well no! Their whole story just unfolds into some sort of perverted kink that Moffat wants to live. *shudders* Disgusting...imnsoho.
And, I think I've mentioned this before, but the Doctor, to me, is completely bi...depending, of course, on which regeneration he's in. I can totally see Five swing both ways, One already had his fun, Four seems either asexual or has great history with Sarah Jane or Romana, Eight is completely bi (didn't they already do this, basically, in the audios?), Nine is flexible, and Ten...well, you know my opinions. lol. But...yeah. Even if the Doctor is always going to be the Doctor, his personality does change some each time he regenerates because, otherwise, where would the fun be?
LOL! Isn't the whole cheating on her bf an excuse Gwen bashers use to "justify" their bashiness? Sorry, I just found that amusing. ;) I would totally defend my wife from all bashers! ;) I am amused at how the bashers coo over Jack's "edginess" but then turn into the upstanding moral police when it comes to Gwen. Yeah, it was totally shitty of her to cheat on Rhys, but I've seen so many comments about how she deserves to die because of her (sorta-kinda) adultery. SORRY, CREEPY FANGIRLS, WE NO LONGER DO THAT IN MOST COUNTRIES.
LOL, I bet the anti-Gwen alliance is eagerly watching MD just so they can bitch about it afterwards.
they set it up like a real sort of love story would go Which I think is why it worked so successfully! I feel like we got to watch it unfold and then later go "Wow, this is such an awesome love story!" instead of the show going "OMG YOU GUYS, ARE YOU READY FOR THE LOVE STORY? HERE IT COMES!" I think your ultimate goal should be for your watchers to go "This should be fate!" instead of you telling them "This is fate!" if that makes sense...
And, I think I've mentioned this before, but the Doctor, to me, is completely bi. I totally agree! It's the only thing that makes sense (other than, say, possibly complete asexuality) for a highly evolved species that doesn't reproduce sexually.
