SLee: Trust me, the movie experience will probably be better than the Broadway one. I know; my first experience was the Broadway experience. And it sucked. No joke: it sucked. It had been (and still is) running too long and it's tired.

The movie, however, has all but two of the original cast. That means Taye Diggs, Adam Pascal, Wilson Jermaine Heredia (who won the Tony for Best Actor for playing Angel in Rent's opening Broadway year), Idina Menzel, Anthony Rapp, Jesse L. Martin -- all the people that really made the show shine in its beginning glory -- will be in it. The director is Chris Columbus, who directed Stepmom, Mrs. Doubtfire, and the first Harry Potter movies, and he's intent on making it as much to Jonathan Larson's image as possible. The guy who wrote the screenplay is Stephen Chbosky, who wrote The Perks of Being a Wallflower, one of my all time favorite books. It all looks like it's going to well worth it

See my Broadway experience *didn't* suck. In fact it rocked. hard. My first RENT experience was the Fox and it sucked. But in my humble opinion the show is worth it either way.

I've heard the same from a couple of other people; I think I just saw a particularly bad cast (Roger couldn't act). I believe that there have been several people that have reenergized Rent on Broadway since I saw it. Much as I hate to say it, I think appearances from people like Joey Fatone probably did up the energy a little, just as a result from having energetic fans.

You're probably right. Although not about the Joey Fatone part. He's the anti-christ and should be burned alive for doing what he did to RENT. However, I agree that the big names brought more energy from the audience which brought out more energy from the actors. Like I saw it with Melanie Brown (Scary Spice) who, despite her british accent, was great.

I think Scary Spice was somewhat welcomed to the cast when i saw it. She didn't have the right voice for the role and threw off the ethnicity for Mimi, but what she took away from the show she doubled in energy.

I agree. She really had fun up there and that made her a lot of fun to watch.
