Dirty Laundry

Jun 25, 2007 18:31

Hi folks!
In case you didn't know, I occasionally make the chore of laundry a bit more fun by creating a wee little zine, WASH: a rag about laundry ~ dirty and clean. (You can get the first issue - of which there are about 20 - at Needles and Pens in SF).

Last massive Laundry Day I was inspired to post a WASH questionnaire, to see how other peoples' laundry experience is like or different from mine. I'd love to get as many participants as possible, in order to cover a range of laundry practices and opinions, so tell your friends to visit here if you think they'd be interested. By answering, you give me permission to quote you, or use the information you give me in my zine. I only use first names, if it seems appropriate to use a name at all, but you may opt for a pseudonym. Of course you may decline to answer questions that aren't pertinent or interesting to you. Participation does not guarantee that you will be quoted.
Aside from all that disclaimer hoo-ha, I'm really curious about your answers!
Questions behind the cut:

FIRST, let's establish:
Your age:
Your gender:
Your laundry location(s): (Home, Laundromat, Other person’s home - state relationship)

NOW, a bit of social dynamic:

Who taught you to do Laundry? How does your own laundry routine vary from or adhere to that of your laundry mentor?

For whom do you wash the wash? If more than self, what is your relationship to said blessed individual(s)?

Are they satisfactorily grateful?
(If you use friend, family or SO’s laundry facilities and/or if any of these people do your laundry, are you satisfactorily grateful?)

Laundry in public: The topic is underwear: Hide, display or don't care?

AND general curiosity:

What is the most interesting, unusual or aggravating thing you’ve found in a pocket on laundry day?

Due to schedule confusion or ingrained habit, you (or persons you do laundry for) are scraping the barrel for clean clothes! You can’t deny it: it’s Laundry Day. How many loads do you have to wash? What will you wear while washing them?

What is your time-filling activity of choice while wash and dry machines are doing their thing?

Worst Stain Ever:
Solution?

What is your most tried and true laundry technique?

What is your most tried and true laundry product?

Do you:

“Dry clean only”?
“Wash with like colors”?
Fold underwear?
Pair socks?
Hand wash delicates?
Use drier sheets?
Line or machine dry?
Iron?

Do you prefer:

Top or front loading?
Scented or unscented?
Liquid or powder?
Mrs. Pac-Man or Robocop?
Soap Operas or Talk Shows?

That's all... for now!
Thanks!
