Ack! This totally should have had an LJ cut. My apologies. The neuron on duty when I posted it was clearly not working properly. And do check out the other Jonas Alphabet Soup entries posted for Gen Fic Day ( Read more... )

This is lovely. It never occurred to me how astonishing Jonas would have found the number of countries on Earth, or the diversity of climate and culture. I love the way you said so much about Sam and Teal'c while saying so little. Very elegant!

This is actually part of my fanwank for why so many of the planets they visit through the gate are monocultures or at most have two or three competing parties...they're colonies, started by the Goa'uld and for at least part of their history the Goa'uld kept their population low and controllable. And of course the number of things there are to learn for anyone who isn't familiar with a culture are enormous!

Glad you liked it!

I like your explanation. No planet they've visited has had anything like Earth's numerous cultures, languages, and countries.

And Jonas meets the banana! Love at first sight!

Now you've got me thinking episode titles a la Chuck... Jonas and the Giant Banana. Jonas and the Dreadful Coffee. Jonas and the Weather Channel....

The trouble is that Jonas versus the Weather Channel could go on a very long time, but it wouldn't make good viewing for us. (And Jonas versus the Banana I have already seen!-even if it wasn't a full episode.)
