Okay, this was a commentfic! Just a two-minute commentfic I was going to post on my lunch hour. It's all sg_fignewton's fault. That and my complete inability to drabble. *goes back to work muttering

Yeah, I thought that Ry'ac probably didn't develop that attitude until he was an annoying teenager. We don't have a lot to work with, actually- he's unconscious for most of Bloodlines, brainwashed for all of Family Ties, and then we don't see him again until S6. I don't think at this point he was ever really pissy- more confused and upset. This is only a few months after COTG, so he hasn't really had time for the reality of the consequences of what Teal'c did to sink in.
Drey'auc is the one who's really had to deal with consequences. When Ry'ac gets sick, she begs the priests to do the implantation. Rather than continue to live as an outcast, she separates from Teal'c and takes up with his buddy. When they flee Chulak after Family Ties, she has to build a new life in a completely alien culture. And even though she separates from Teal'c, she embraces his cause to the point of dying rather than taking a new symbiote when hers dies in S6. In a real way, Drey'auc is Teal'c's first convert to the cause of the free Jaffa.
I've got bits and pieces of background floating around for the Land of Light, and what they might have looked like around S5-7. Someday I'll use them in a story! But baseball is very popular there, and they've become considerably more cosmopolitan with refugees and occasional SGC personnel floating in and out. Drey'auc may feel very out of place, but she still makes some firm friends among the other women there. They trade regularly with the Argosians (the planet with the nanites). Both they and the Argosians have benefitted from the assistance of SGC agricultural specialists, who have helped them grow crops more efficiently. And they take in a stream of refugees of one sort or another, some of whom stay and some who move on. (Of course you can see why I haven't used this yet- all background, no story!)
And no. Commentfic, not so much. As I've said elsewhere, I *like* the idea of shorter fics- among other things, I'm more likely to finish them! But my natural length seems to be rather longer.

Thanks for the fb!

You could do it as a character-piece rather than as a plot-piece; maybe a series of vignettes from Drey'auc's POV through the years.
