Oh, man, this is awesome!

I had forgotten I even wrote this story, but this is excellent, the way you tied in all the other stupid cover stories, and the wacky business with Baal's Earth holdings, and all that stuff.

The only thing I'm having trouble with is identifying the red-headed SGC guy--who is that?

So fun! Thank you!

I'm thinking it may be Balinsky who used to be on SG-13 (the archeologist/geologist who said Dr. Jackson would die to see this.) It's hard to imagine him as undercover bible guy, but I think the dudes from that illfated P3X-666 mission (sniff *Janet*) would have an added interest in looking out for Cassie. That would make the "colonel" likely Dixon played by Adam Baldwin.

Now I have to go read your original fic. Cool!

And Aurora takes the prize! Yes, the colonel is Dixon and the redhead is Balinsky. SG-1 is kind of busy when Cassie calls (pick any of the three of four eps that follow Fourth Horseman...personally, I think they're off retaking the Prometheus from Dark-SG-1).

So she talks to Dixon. It's not like she could possibly visit Colorado without seeing the SG-13 guys anyway- she has a gift for little Janet Wells, who's getting so big, and Mary Dixon would invite her to dinner every night if Cassie let her- the (now six) Dixon kids (there was an unexpected set of twins after Heroes), all think she's kind of an honorary big sister, and Balinsky and Bosworth will want to hear about her current boyfriend- because, dammit, they know *exactly* what young men think about...

This is brilliant, as usual. The SGC does come up with some lame cover stories, doesn't it?

(But was I supposed to recognise the red-headed SGC guy? I'm not as good with minor characters as I used to be...)

The SGC guys are Dixon and Balinsky from SG-13. SG-1 was kind of tied up when Cassie called (probably tied up on the ship while Dark-SG-1 hijacks them to the Pegasus galaxy, actually).

Oh, I really enjoyed this! I love the way you tell Stargate universe stories through the eyes of original characters. I always find them engaging!

Very nicely done and a great read!

Thanks!

Thanks! It was fun to do kind of a sanity check on the State of SGC cover stories.. (lame!)

The first remix story I've read...okay, second if you count the one I betaed. ;-) I couldn't resist taking a peek.

It turned out super excellent! Very clever. Now I'll have to go read cofax7's original. :-)

Meeting up with Cassie was my favorite part. I really enjoyed Colin as a sympathetic character, even though he was the enemy to our heroes.

I've almost convinced myself red headed guy was Balinsky, but I'm not sure how well he could pull off undercover bible salesman. It would however be a cool symmatry that the veterans of old SG-13 are watching out for Janet's reputation and very much something you would do. :-)

Look forward to rereading it when I'm conscious. :-)

Colin...even though he was the enemy to our heroes

Well, think about it from their POV- the SGC *has* covered up lots of deaths, the government lied about losing an aircraft carrier, Colson really has disappeared. That's pretty damned creepy, actually. And even though we naturally see it from the SGC side- any argument you can make in favor of what the SGC and the IOC are doing smacks strongly of 'the end justifies the means'. I'd think that a lot of people would have trouble with that. Remember, Colson wasn't convinced even after he found out about the Goa'uld that they were justified in keeping it a secret.

My favorite kind of dilemma, there's no clearly right or wrong answers- the characters just have to muddle through, trying to do the right thing. *g*
