So Cash is leaving The Cab? :( Idk guys, this is getting ridiculous. WTF is with our fandom? MAKE IT STOP.

Hey, though. You know who I love a lot? Cobra Starship. You know who I'm seeing twice in the next two days? Cobra Starship. \o/ I'M SO EXCITED. ALL FOR YOU GABE. I MAKE THE MOST IRRESPONSIBLE LIFE DECISIONS ALL FOR YOU.
I have not been around a whole lot in the last couple days because I had this whole descent into cranky petulance brought on by a number of things, some fandom related and some real life related, all of it kind of stupid. I would start posts and then I would be like OH MY GOD I AM SO BORED WITH MY OWN WHINING, so then I would close the window and spare you all. You're welcome. Don't count on that continuing because school starts a week from Wednesday and at that point the whining is likely to become epic.
Friday I went to see
Living Dead in Denmark with some school friends. It was like post-Hamlet fanfiction about the Zombie Apocalypse with other random Shakespeare characters thrown in. One of the main pairings was Juliet/Lady Macbeth, if that tells you anything about the type of play this was. It had many, many delightful Shakespeare allusions and some Buffy shoutouts. Despite this, it was not all I wanted it to be. There was some racefail and a few other cringeworthy points where it went for lol-edgy or for the cheap and easy joke. Also, it just wasn't *quite* as clever as I wanted it to be. Look, in my head zombie mashups are the best idea EVER. I wanted to love this and I wanted to love Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. And both were disappointments, though admittedly in both cases my expectations were pretty high. ZOMBIES AND SHAKESPEARE, GUYS. THAT SHOULD BE TOTALLY AMAZING. My reaction should not be "that was okay." I did think the cast was really solid.
Saturday I went to Richmond with 'Night and we saw The Drive-By Truckers with
likeadeuce. I know some about the Trucker's narrative from some of the rest of the DC fangirl contingent since I've been hearing about this band since I got here (happily! And I deserve it for how much I talk about bandom!), so it was pretty awesome to finally see them live. Patterson and Coolie (I now know who they are \o/) were pretty cute (it was their 24th anniversary!) and the music was awesome. That kind of southern folk-rock is really closer to what I would have claimed "my" type of music was prior to the great bandom stockholming...though I guess I did own and love both Infinity on High and A Fever You Can't Sweat Out before I could name a single member of either band other than Pete.
Anyway, The Drive-By Truckers! A++, would see again.
Sunday I had dim sum with 'Night,
cidercupcakes,
baked_goldfish and
spiderwebb and then we watched The X-Files for awhile. Wow, you never do recover fully from your first fandom, do you? Not that I've ever really recovered from *any* fandom. /o\ We watched "Pusher" and it made me all ~wibbly~ just like it used to when I was thirteen and an obsessive Mulder/Scully shipper. Which is what it MEANT to be a shipper back then. MSR4EVER. I forget sometimes, though, how important it is to never, ever attempt to apply logic to that show. Ever.
Today I didn't do much! Sort of good because I get to take it easy the last few weeks before school starts, sort of bad because the money situation is getting dire. Tonight I am probably going to read the rest of House of Leaves so that I don't sleep tonight just like I didn't last night after I read the first half.
How are you flist?
