Straight As! \o/ And almost halfway done. Maybe I can do this grad school thing.
Things that are fannishly pleasing:
1) I'm assuming we're in agreement that of all celebrity twitters Misha Collins' is
the best one. Now that is how twitter should be used by celebrities. Bandom twitters would not make me so nervous if they did not insist on tweeting about their actual lives.
2) American Idol slash. (
elucidate_this passed on a recs list a couple of days ago). I don't even watch AI. I have only the vaguest knowledge of who these people are. It's fantastic. Long RPS that features people I am not overinvested in is my favorite kind of comfort reading. I just have to be careful, because that's what bandom was supposed to be and hahahahahahaha. ha. ha. Heeeeeey, speaking of, is there any Brendon/David Archuleta? I only vaguely knew who David Archuleta was until, like, two days ago (this is still true because I have only read fic) and I don't usually like pairings when there is no evidence that the two people have even met, but there's something about that idea that deeply appeals to me, idk.
3) Star Trek. Fandom, you are ADORABLE. I was never much into Trek. I had exposure 'cause my dad was a fan, but it was never my thing. I loved the reboot (despite its issues), but I'm still pretty sure it's not going to be my *thing.* I've been watching and enjoying vids, but the fic hasn't been calling to me. But that's not even the point. Given how important Star Trek is to fannish history in general, watching all the new squee just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
4) Tonight I am going to the new Terminator movie at midnight. This is not really fannishly pleasing necessarily because I am more or less neutral on Terminator and also I'm still sick so I'm probably just going to make that worse again, but I'm going with one of my best friends from school here who is leaving to study abroad in China two days later and she LOVES Terminator; the only reason I saw the first movies last semester was because of her. And I love midnight opening showings and I love cult movie events and I love other people's geek squee (within reason, of course) so it should be fun.
Back to work and the PILES AND PILES of reading I have for this summer class. ALSO THOUGH: I have indeed noticed that Dollhouse got renewed and I have not forgotten that I promised to write up my feelings on that with bonus feminist psychoanalytic film theory, so yeah, I'm going to do that as soon as I have time. Which will be soon. I hope.
