Today I went to the Pompeii exhibit at the Birmingham museum with my family. It was fascinating, but as you're leaving there's a picture of the modern Vesuvius region with a caption saying that over three million people now live in the area despite the fact that it's inevitable that Vesuvius is going to have a major eruption again.

I ACTUALLY THOUGHT TO MYSELF "why would you live there knowing that?" It only took me a moment to stop and go "OH WAIT." And then adronai laughed at me.
