Firstly, is SPN fandom seriously wanking about *Jensen*? Seriously? I just find that . . . odd. Given his popularity. I have not seen any instances of this, mind you. (Nor do I want to. Jensen! ♥) I have just heard rumors.
Okay. But the important thing right now is that today was the last day of Voodoo fest, which means that I saw Gym Class Heroes and Fall Out Boy! And was fairly embarrassingly excited. Whatever! I have come to terms with my bandom related shame.
GYM CLASS HEROES! Mostly Travie. I got a few of Eric Roberts, but Disashi was on the other side of stage and I couldn't get a good angle. He looked *amazing* though. I couldn't see the drums at all, so I have no pictures of Matt or Andy. Once again, ignore the dates. I never set the calendar on my phone.
Travi amuses me. He spent quite some time talking about how pretty the girls in the audience were and that we should take our shirts off. Then in the intro the their cover of "Leave Before the Lights Come On" he started talking about how he frequently wakes up next to random people that he doesn't remember going to bed with and that he wants to leave before they wake up. As a member of bandom, I enjoyed his failure to specify gender, though I wouldn't ever expect Travie to do anything overtly homoerotic when not in close proximity to William Beckett.
They wouldn't sing "Make Out Club" until seven couples in the audience made out. Apparently, Travie is "bringing making out back." Like Justin brought sexy back. And Gabe is brining sassy back, but he didn't say that last one.
He tried to get the audience to throw their clothes on the stage during "Clothes Off." Many, many people did.
This is Eric Roberts. It's the only good picture I got of anyone other than Travie.
The mascot. And the flag.
FALL OUT BOY
Firstly. Joe is hot.
No one told me Joe was hot. Or, they did, but I was too distracted by Pete&Patrick to care. Well. Joe is hot. (As is Andy. I wish I'd gotten good pictures of Andy!) Pete&Patrick are still distracting.
Also, you guys? Pete is pretty.
Like, really pretty,
And I am not someone who has historically found him to be all that pretty. I generally kind of think he's funny looking.
But not live. Live he is pretty.
He has truly ridiculous emo hair. I want to pet it. I'm deeply alarmed that I'm having this reaction.
Patrick is also hot on stage, but my pictures didn't come out so well.
He sounded really amazing though. I was surprised. I mean, not that Patrick sounded good, but by how good they were over all. I don't know what I was expecting. But they were good. Even if Pete did spend more time throwing microphones around than he did playing bass.
I do not have pictures Pete leaning on Patrick homoerotically, though it happened. It was too bad, because I had promised a friend photographic evidence of any gay that occurred, but the crowd surfing had started by then, so I'd put my camera away to avoid getting it broken while I was getting kicked in the head.
I liked Pete's introductions to the songs. He claimed that "Hum Hallelujah" was written partly in response to Katrina. I thought that was about his suicide attempt? And that "Carpal Tunnel of Love" is about girls that say "ya'll." They did play "The (After) Life of the Party" which he claimed they don't usually do live. He said American culture is so weird in that people can get famous just for getting naked on the internet. Oh, Pete.
I still feel like being in this fandom is bizarre and out of character for me. It went X-Files-> Buffy/Angel->QaF->Veronica Mars->Supernatural & BSG -> . . . Bandom. RPS was never even my thing aside from a few brief detours into J2 and Chenzel. Where did this even come from? I don't know. I really don't. But if it continues to fill me with this much glee and delight, I don't care either.
