Iconsssss

Yikes. Everybody in California alright? Those fires are scary stuff.

Here it's been raining all day (like, streets-flooded raining - never a good thing in NOLA), which has put me in a crappy mood. It just makes me tired and blah and unfocused. Also, my throat feels scratchy and gross and I think I'm getting sick, probably whatever my ( Read more... )

1- I love you because you will let me babble about my OTP in your LJ. The song is Rod Stewart (I AM OLD) from before he was, you know, King of Disco? The manip was done ages ago, and I loved it so much I had to have it. The text is from the ever popular "I would go down with this ship", but if you look close, it says 'on'instead of 'with'. Because really. I haven't used this icon NEARLY enough lately, so I use it now and sigh. *sighs*

2- swmbo created this concept. I love the idea! How fandom is a giant playground, and it takes us wherever we want to go. It reminds me of the old commercials they used to play to get kids to read (again I AM OLD), which were like, "books can take you anywhere". This is the growed up version. I started out a geeky kid and I wound up a geeky adult, and I am okay with that. Heh. This one gets whipped out a lot in metafandom discussions.

3- The Converse reminded me of the ones Kartheiser was wearing when we saw him in the NYC play, especially because they appear to be about to step off a stage. Although his were actually pink, which is the keyword of my other Converse icon. (Limelight. Get it? Oh, so clever. *desk*) This icon makes me happy inside when I use it.

4- I love this icon. A long long time ago, in another race wank far far away, involving the word "othering" (I'm sure it's on Fandom Wank, and you can look it up), I made a comment about finding Asian chicks hot (Fod is Korean, she has a thing for Jewgirls, convenient, no?) This is a tongue in cheek reference. I mostly only use it with Fod, as no one else gets it.

5- So, turns out I might have a thing for you know, the Cult of Kings. Arthur, Aslan, Angel. Or maybe I just have a thing for guys whose names start with A. Uhm. Then they called Sam on SPN The Boy King, and it ruined that idea. So. Kings it is. With swords. And destinies. Oh, Peter, you so pretty. And one day, I will slash you with that great big lion and make my entire childhood recoil in horror. I use it when I want to invoke the feeling of YAY HERO or in reassurance like 'stand your ground'.

6- I have no freaking idea the context of that line, I think Fod read it somewhere once and it became a sort of default for meaningless answers. It's a gummy bear that looks like it wants to run away and join the Navy. What choice did I have in the name? I use it when I am confused.

And I left one out.

"All the difference" - it's two pair of male legs, if you look closely. Quote from "Road Less Travelled", because at first I had an icon of two young boys holding hands, walking down a dirt road together, and that's what it said across the bottom. When I switched to this one, I wanted to keep the theme. I love it because it's subtle, but sweet.

Never hesitate to babble about your OTP in my lj.

That's really interesting! I'm glad you did the meme, because I have wondered about your converse icon and your infinite swings icon before kind of in passing, so it's cool to have them explained.

Really? A thing for the Cult of Kings? I would never have guessed that about you. *g*

I like the "All the Difference" one a lot. It makes a lot of sense.

Hee. ♥

And, of course, in my first comment by "your OTP" I meant "our OTP." Just for clarity. *g*
