- Dudley. Huh. Didn't see that coming.
Yes. Totally, yes. I would have thought it was Petunia.

- Molly Weasley vs. Bellatrix Lestrange. FTW.
YESSS. That and Kreacher's crusade. I loved it.

Is it wrong that a tiny part of me wishes Snape had been evil?
Um, I wanted him to be evil, just to show that Dumbledore was not infallible. Or fallible. But that, hey! He could make a mistake that cost him his life. But we did learn the Big D wasn't perfect, but I still wanted Snape to be evil. Not fuckin in love with Lily. Ugh.

- Sirius fell through the veil; he wasn't just avada kedavra'd. I feel like there should be more story there.
Actually, in book 5, we don't know WHAT spell hit him. He is first targeted with a Stupefy, and then is hit with another spell. No one says Avada Kedavra, nor does it state what color the bolt was (red being Stupefy, green being Avada). It's the movie where they change that. (I got overly huffy and checked. A lot.) I'm sure people will argue against me.

p.s. I want to know who supposedly raises Teddy Lupin. Afterall, Harry is the godfather, which would imply that it's his responsibility to raise him. But he's 17 for crying out loud. Does Andromeda Tonks raise him instead? They talk about him being like part of the family, so obviously one way or another he is close to them.

That question occurred to me as well, but I was so annoyed by that whole subplot and then by the epilogue that I was just like OMGWHATEVER by that point. Still, she probably should have said.

That and I was all, "Who the hell is Victorie?" Obviously a Weasley kid, but 19 years later, they ALL could have popped out offspring. Some post said she was the daughter of Bill/Fleur, and I'm assuming the only way we'd guess that is by the "e" ending?

i feel exactly the way you do on harry/ginny. i pretty much love ginny since she got over the whole "i cant talk to harry because i'm so nervous and in love" thing and I HATE that she lies down and takes such condescension from him. it's just gross.

and i feel exactly the same as you do re: remus and tonks and the epilogue.

and while i don't think that remus/tonks is like an evil heterosexual conspiracy i do think that at least subconsciously rowling was reacting to the gay reading (remus at least was getting some attention for his gayness). and marrying them, having them breed and then killing them feels like a slap.

Harry/Ginny really does BOTHER ME. He just doesn't seem to respect her abilities. Ginny was never one of my characters. Like I said, I like her fine, but I was never hugely invested in her. That said, she was always, *always* portrayed as competent and clever, and Harry never treats her that way.

marrying them, having them breed and then killing them feels like a slapIt really does. I don't guess I think it's intentional, but she HAD to know, and she is very protective of her world. And, like, that's fair? She can do what she wants with her characters? But given how politicized the books are *against* oppression of all kinds, and the way that multiple queer readings are possible (squibs, for example, as a friend of mine pointed out) to have them heteronormalized (is that a word?) on the meta level totally feels like a slap in the face and it really pisses me off. Not that I thought she would go there or expected her to. (Though I wish we lived in a world where she *could.) She could have just left them alone and let the ( ... )

*g* I can't figure out if the Jesus thing is more or less formulaic. But I don't care, because I'm really glad he's not dead.

So much love for Neville! And, book. Oh, book. I did enjoy it, despite my loathing of the epilogue.

the way that narrative happy endings seem to always have to enforce not just heteronormativity, but "normality" and the status quo in general just gets to me. This isn't just a problem for me in Harry Potter. It's sort of a problem always.

Yes, this is exactly the problem. Makes you wonder if that's why Remus and Tonks don't make it? They don't really fit in. Feh.

I really hated the epilogue. I was pretty much totally cool with everything else. I can even live with Remus and Tonks because I do get what she was doing there. If that had been my biggest problem, I would have considered myself lucky. But yeah. The epilogue really does bother me.

Okay. So I saw this post on my friendsfriends post, and figured it was a friend of yours: they made a post about how Harry Potter would have been if Joss had written it.

Do you have any idea what I am talking about/where I can find it?

I don't actually known the person who made the post, but I do know what you're talking about. It's here. *g*

:D You are AMAZING. I was telling Garren about them (as he hearts them both), and he wanted to read it. Couldn't find it ANYWHERE, not my history, not my friendsfriends page.

You are made of win.

Hee. That or I'm just an overly obsessive fangirl. Either way. ;)
