As of last night at about 6:20 PM, I turned in the final project for my final summer school class. One more semester down, two more MLIS classes finished. That leaves 9 classes and the electronic portfolio or masters' thesis to go. I now have two weeks off from school, and my fall classes start Wednesday, August 23. Unfortunately, for fall semester, one of my classes actually meets in person four times - from 5-10 PM. So, I get to work a half day, drive nearly two hours from work to Orange County, hang out at the CSU Fullerton library for a few hours (better than going home, hanging out, and driving down there in rush hour), go to class for 5 hours, then drive an hour home and get up and go to work early the next morning. At least it's only 4 times.

In other news, we are going to see Mates of State at the Greek Theatre in Griffith Park on Sunday (and Spoon and Death Cab, but we probably won't bother to stay for either of those). Then, early Monday morning, we're flying to Portland (Oregon) for a 3 day mini-vacation. We're also thinking of driving up to Mt. St. Helens while we're there. I've never been to the Pacific Northwest at all before, so this will be fun. Hopefully, there will be dining out at lots of good vegetarian restaurants and hanging out at coffee houses and walking around a lot a lot and doing some shopping. We're staying at this groovy hotel with an old 1930's Hollywood Theme. Each room has an iPod recharging/download station. And a pillow menu. Sounds fun.

Then I get home and have 5 days before I have to be back at work. Sometimes the best vacations are the ones where you stay home. The kitties are being boarded at their favorite place (well, ok, i don't think Gus and Lulu like it, but the people who work there enjoy Gus and Lulu)- The Cat's Pajamas. The first time we boarded them, we had them bathed, and I really don't think Gus appreciated the peach bow they put on him afterwards. He is a young man with dignity for god's sakes.

I will be sure to post pictures and details of the trip next week. For now, I have to get caught up at work (as TPTB at work decided to be nice and "officially" sanction me doing my homework at work the past two weeks - not that I NEEDED them to do so, but it was a nice gesture). The result has been that my actual work work is backed up by about a week and a half. If you are another library trying to request books from us through interlibrary loan, sorry! sorry! I'm a one-person department and my homework came first.
