Absence is the way of an Agent's life. Her father'd said that.
Joyce knew she was marrying into a life of late nights and phone calls. Her father had been with the agency, one day he just hadn't come home. That was the way.
In the beginning however, Paul always called. The years pass and Andy replaces Paul but Joyce accepts it because it's like the calls are still getting through, still there.
One October day the calls stop and she's frantically trying Andy on the phone before she hears "He's disappeared."
