My miniatures painting deadline has pretty much come and I'm not going to make my original deadline. Too many other deadlines have interfered. I'm not too upset with myself over this. After all, why beat myself up over what is essentially a hobby meant to relax me?
It doesn't help matters that I have been fielding the Wood Elves against the Dwarfs and frankly, it's a completely uninteresting match-up. Tactically, it's interesting, and with bigger armies, or different players it might be fun. The elves are very hit-and-run, but can't do squat in hand to hand. The Dwarfs on the other hand, have some shooting, a powerful cannon, and some very slow but tough infantry. They have no access to cavalry, so they spend most of the game trying to get across the table to the elves, who then run away over and over until the dwarfs corner them.
Even with battlefield objectives I find this pretty boring. I'm sure Renee finds it even more boring.
So with that in mind, I am going to switch from working on the Wood Elves for now, and switch over to working on my Vampire Counts, which I think will be a more interesting match up and hopefully inspire me to work on them more. There are some great, inexpensive, third party models being produced by a company called
Mantic which I like better than the Games Workshop ones anyway. So I am going to work on them instead of fielding my first ever (horrible) skeletons which I bought almost 10 years ago.
