Two quick notes:
1) For those of you who like coffee, and for those who kinda like it, but find it too bitter or jangly or somesuch, I present a small miracle. Cold brewed coffee! The
Times recipe and others make it sound slightly involved - double straining with cheesecloth and whatnot, but, really, if you have a french press, do yourself a favor. Before going to sleep, set it up as usual, but with cold filtered tap water instead of hot water from a kettle. In the morning it will be like unto caffinated nectar, requiring little, if any, cream or sugar, and allowing the real flavors of the beans to come through (getting good beans becomes more important with this technique rather than brewing hot coffee). If you require it hot, the microwave is your friend. Just, try it, just once, and you'll see what I mean.
2) I've been having lots of fun with
desklickr lately. It still has a few glitches - images either being too big or small for my desktop, and no dynamic scaling option, and multiple tag searches seem to work as an AND search rather than OR - but it's been fun. My current tag search is "lighthouse" on a 20 minute rotating schedule. It's been awesome.
