Men's team gymnastics finals!!!
sorry, i keep adding random thoughts in here, so i sound crazy. oh well.
i'm so upset that cbc didnt have mens gymnastics team finals live at 1:30pm today (8:30 athens) b/c i tried to watch it as i was babysitting. of course by the time i got home the medals were posted, so even though i'm just watching them on NBC, i already know that hte US got silver. i'm annoyed b/c i tried to find out the scores of each individual rotation, but no one has them posted, nbcolympics.com or cbc.com/olympics. or athens2004.com. so now i actually have to wait and watch the men, but nbc keeps interupting with swimming....but both sports are a tape, so i wish they would jsut finish one before moving on!!! ok, enough whining/venting. i just want them to get back to blaine wilson. is that too much to ask?
see, now i'm just really annoyed. it's been 1/2 hr, 45 min, and they still haven't gotten back to gymnastics. This all took place *9* HOURS AGO, people. you cant just finish gymnastics? sheesh. ok, finally they get back. now when they take off the pants and wear those nice shorts? very enjoyable. NBC has way too many commercials, too. now, the synchronized swimming? fun. and is that a deep pool or what?
and sadly michael phelps will not win 8 gold metals, as he has only 1 gold, but 2? (possibly more by now) bronzes. oh well. it is kind of nice that mark spitz's (?) record won't be broken-nostalgia and all that. but he said something in an interview that i found nice when he was asked if not breaking spitz's record bothered him: "no (it doesn't bother him) I came in wanting to win one and i've done that, so now i'm just having fun." then the comentator brought up the fact that he could be the first swimmer to win 8 medals (not just gold), and he's just happy to have won one. i have also determined that although phelps has a very nice body (VERY nice) once he takes his swim cap off, he loses his appeal. it might be his ears. whatever. seriously though, these olympics have transformed me into a fool when i see a nice body. i'm so superficial. romania is kinda cute, but he has a unibrow that turns me off. get rid of that though....
so i'm thinking of spending 1 month in slovenia next year in a 4 wk summer course to learn slovene. i find myself sadly lacking in my language skills. sure i took spanish for 5 years, but do i really remember anything? not really. and i think my grandpa would approve of my learning slovene. so we'll see. i do have 11 months to think of it. that, and i do need a reall job next year.
