An interesting thought I was going to eventually bring up in a post but will mention here: It is well accepted now amongst NT biblical scholars that the texts do not likely reflect the core teachings in every respect. To turn the other cheek might just as well have refered to showing the side of yourself that others wouldn't want to fuck with. And it is apparent that niether Jesus or the diciples had any quams about raising a hand or drawing sword and cutting flesh. The core teaching of the NT were likely as Wisdom as you can get. Faith which worketh by Love.
