Saint Chartier Festival 2008 (part one)

Wow! Saint Chartier was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. Best weekend, ever.

Except for the bit where yet again I totally failed to pull the amazingly hot chick, who was totally interested in me, because I am oblivious to such things unless they are pointed out to me in words of one syllable and then run away in the opposite direction when they are, on the grounds that if someone likes me they must be a weirdo. There was also an embarrassing classical guitar cockup which started embarrassing and then reached the level where I kept digging a bigger hole for myself.

Re: the Dutch joke
ROFL. Well they did rouse me at an unearthly hour the following morning in order to give me Dutch peanut butter on Dutch crackers, but I don't believe that they had potatoes or chocolate sprinkles. If they had, they were hiding them well. Hurrah for stereotypes.

I perpetuated the Irish stereotype, by drinking vast accounts of neat Pernod under the impression it was not alcoholic. This was due to a misunderstanding earlier in the day when some one mocked one of their mates for drinking "pastiche" , claiming it wasn't real booze. I assumed this meant it wasn't an alcoholic drink and was quite proud of myself for knowing a humorous colloquialism for a soft drink, so I switched to it at about 3am when I needed to slow down. The way Ricards Pastis tasted just like Ouzo should have given me a clue.
