Bush Bashing

Many of you may not know it because I don’t speak of her often, but I do love my stepmother, Gina very much. She is one of those subjects I don’t speak of too often because it is too painful.

She was unable to come to our wedding because she was deported to Afghanistan about 6 months before hand and guaranteed to have to serve at least two years. ( Read more... )

I'm just as angry as you are. What Bush does is called sophism--it was a technique started in Ancient Greece where people talk and talk and talk to make their point, whether it's right or wrong, until the audience believes it. In this case, Bush is usually wrong. I like how he wanted to go into Afghanistan but somehow all the troops ended up in Iraq. Not like it's that much better off, anyway. The problem is that the majority--it's getting smaller as his approval rating goes down the drain--of Americans do agree with what he's doing, or at least what he tells them he's doing. My problem with this is that soldiers die every day, and for every soldier who dies, there must be at least 50 innocent Iraqi citizens who die. More soldiers have died to date than died over Clinton's entire 8 years. I don't think Clinton lost a soldier in combat. I totally agree about the flag thing, and I feel the same way about that and about my patriotism. I know more about my country and about this stupid war than most of those flag covered conservatives who have a Bush sticker on their SUV not really knowing why they voted for him in the first place.

interesting flag facts

1. people have recently spent alot of government time and money trying to ban flag burning

2. at most, there have been 4 instances of flag burning demonstrations INSIDE the us in the last year.

3. the officail and dignified way to dispose of used and worn flags is to have a small ceremony AND BURN THEM.

so banninng burning flags will succeed in making criminals of thosands of boy scouts who carry out this minor patriotic duty. . .
