[Aya had dreaded this day. It was bad enough that Omi had been there from the very beginning, just like her brother, there to meet her and take her to the apartments where she still lived. It was bad enough that she'd come to think of him like a little brother in his own right.

It was worse that Aya knew exactly what was waiting for him back at his home. The self-induced misery and the isolation, the complete powerlessness of anyone else-- including her-- to help change that. Omi's return meant whatever happiness he'd found in Somarium was over for him.

It was bad enough to miss someone and mourn the loss. It was worse to know that person had gone to a place where he was destined to suffer.

She's sitting on the edge of her bed, curled over and weeping. Clutched in her right hand is the heart-shaped locket Omi gave her just a month ago for her birthday, the thin chain draping about her forearm.

It's just not enough.]

[Ran finds here in her room and goes to sit next to her. Very gently, he wraps an arm around her and pulls her close to him. Closing his eyes, he just holds her like this. He isn't going to stop her from crying and telling her everything will be alright would be a lie. He can't bring himself to lie to her like that.

So, he'll just be there for her instead.]

[Youji doesn't respond immediately. He checks the contact list for himself, even as he's making his way to Omi's apartment. When he finds nothing in either, he heads down to the shop, and looks thoroughly.

Nothing.

He takes one more good look around the shop before calling Ran.]

I'll take a turn around the city and the village if you want me to go looking for him, but you've already checked the contacts list, his apartment, and the shop.

[States that as a fact. You're as thorough as he is.]

[It is tempting to have someone look for him, to continue to deny what is now reality. However, he's a realist in the end and knows that would be a waste of time. He has to do what he can with this moment...Not what could be.]

You don't have to, Youji. He's not here.

[Similarly, it's tempting to look just to look--who is to say the devices can't be hacked or fooled, and if anyone could, it was Omi--but that's too much faith in someone. Even Omi.]

[There's a long pause where he really has nothing to say. Interestingly enough the fact that this happened the day before his birthday doesn't even cross his mind. He's too busy thinking of other things now.]

I am sorry for the unexpected departure of your associate. I have yet to frequent the shop in question, but now I have the spare time, I'm strongly considering transplanting new flowers in the garden outside the mansion because I'm reasonably assured my work won't be ruined by the help

[Today he's trying to organize everything so that wouldn't do. The shop is closed tomorrow and he's forgotten that his birthday is tomorrow too.]
