a/n: Is hoping that this stays a oneshot. Will probably be two parts to this, whatever it is...
fandom: Samurai Warriors 1&2
pairing: Keiji x Mitsunari *grins* (I can see it happen.)
disclaimer: This Wulf doesn't own Samurai Warriors. She just plays the game.
Tiredly he poured over the map his scouts provided him with. For nearly six hours, Mitsunari studied the map looking for any advantage points his army could use in tomorrow's battle.
In tomorrow's battle, there would be a winner and a loser. Tomorrow's battle would be the deciding factor on who would be the one to rule all of Japan and bring on a new era of peace.
Sighing tiredly, he rubbed his watering eyes. Mitsunari was tired and needed sleep, which he knew. But that didn't mean that he was going to be getting any sleep that night. He had to figure out and 'perfect' his strategy. There was no room for any mistakes because mistakes lead to certain death.
The battle of tomorrow was life or death. So, he could not afford any errors. His army, his people, his friends were counting on him.
From the darken entrance of the command tent, Keiji silently watched the smaller commander. Knowing that his young friend was tired and was fighting his body's need for sleep, he quietly prowled further into the enclosure. He knew that tomorrow was going to be hard on a well-rested warrior; he definitely knew it was going to be hell on a one that spent the night worrying about tomorrow. Some how he had to get Mitsunari to rest his weary body. But that was going to be an uphill battle with the stubborn bastard.
Determination burned deep within his eyes as he walked closer and closer to the unaware former retainer. An idea had forme in his mind... A very pleasant and pleasing idea. It was going to be pleasurable for both Keiji and Mitsunari.
"Take a break, Mitsunari. You've already reworked your plans and they're probably nearly perfect." Keiji whispered, his eyes locked on the other's bowed head.
Startled out his semi-trance, Mitsunari looked up at the blond warrior; his surprise clear on his face.
"Keiji..." he rasped hoarsely, "Wha..what are you doing here? Aren't you suppose to be with Kanetsugu?!"
Keiji grinned wildly, "Yeah, I was suppose to be there, but he felt that my services were needed here the most. So, here I am and I'm in the right place evidently."
Eyebrows furrowed, the smaller man was confused by the big blond's last comment. "What's that suppose to mean?"
"You're working yourself too hard, my friend..." Keiji rumbled as he reached out his hand to run through the chestnut hair of his friend and commanding officer. "Tomorrow's battle will come and you've already prepared enough for it. Just trust in yourself, your people, your friends, and me.. We'll see you through to the end, no matter the outcome."
"Keiji... How can you sound so sure when you don't know what tomorrow may bring?"
"Because I can't worry about tomorrow, when I'm living for today."
Feeling a hand filled with strength running through his hair and hearing Keiji's firm reply, Mitsunari looked at the blond warrior with awed wonder in his eyes. Meada Keiji was a very remarkable man.
"I can't help but worry about tomorrow, Keiji."
Keiji sighed and ran his hand down the young commander's neck. With that hand, he tilted Mitsunari's face up and used his other hand to gently tuck a lock of hair behind his friends ear. Then he lead down to rest his forehead against the smaller man's forehead, "Let me take your worries away, Mitsunari..."
"...please..."
