"Comerica Bank on Soquel robbed in broad daylight"
-Santa Cruz sentinel headline -

A headline like this is designed to make you feel shocked at the brazen behavior of criminals. "The audacity of a criminal to rob a bank in broad daylight," you might say. " What's the world coming to?" I gotta laugh though.  Most banks are robbed "in broad daylight" during business hours.  It seems like a commonplace experience to me.  I can't recall the last time I heard about a bank robbery occurring at night.  I feel safe assuming that it must be a rare event to rob a bank in the middle of the night.....   so why the superfluous headline?
